Dr Claire Riddell MB BCh BAO MD MRCP MSc is a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, based at Musgrave Park and Belfast City Hospitals, Northern Ireland.

Dr Riddell graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2001 and subsequently completed a research MD in the genetics of osteoporosis in 2004. She completed specialist rheumatology training in the UK prior to obtaining her CCT in Rheumatology in 2010. She also undertook fellowship training in Toronto, Canada, with specialist experience in lupus and psoriatic arthritis.

She has been a Consultant Rheumatologist since 2010, initially within the Northern Health and Social Care Trust before taking up her current consultant post within the Belfast Trust in 2014.

Dr Riddell has specialist expertise in the assessment and management of a wide range of rheumatic and autoimmune conditions including inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, lupus, connective tissue disease, Sjögren’s syndrome, vasculitis, gout, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia. She also has extensive experience in the assessment of joint pain, back pain and soft tissue rheumatic conditions.

She works within regional multidisciplinary services with close collaboration across nephrology, dermatology, respiratory medicine and radiology, including interstitial lung disease and renal vasculitis services. She has Level 2 EFSUMB accreditation in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and experience in joint and soft tissue injection therapy.

Appointments are available for adult patients with all forms of rheumatic, musculoskeletal and autoimmune disease.
