Ms Stevenson is a consultant specialist knee surgeon.
Having qualified from Queens University Belfast in 2006, she completed specialist orthopaedic training in Northern Ireland in 2016. She then completed two international fellowships in Sports Knee and Arthroplasty Surgery, the first with Dr Peter Myers at the Brisbane Orthopaedic Sports Medical Centre (Australia), the second with Mr Tim Spalding at University Hospital Coventry specialising in meniscal transplant and cartilage repair techniques.
Ms Stevenson has published in peer reviewed international journals on topics such as allograft use in ACL reconstruction, CTPA in lower limb arthroplasty, minimal incision arthroplasty and meniscal allograft transplantation. She has presented at both national and international meetings to include British Association for Surgery of the Knee, Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and Asia Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Society meetings (APKASS) on her research involving meniscal allograft transplantation. She has co-written a book chapter on Medial Collateral Ligament injuries published in 2017. Her clinical practice includes knee dislocations/multi-ligament knee injury, ACL/PCL/MPFL reconstructions, patella re-alignment, meniscal repair/transplantation, osteotomy and arthroplasty. She is committed to training orthopaedic surgeons in Northern Ireland and won the Trainer of the year award in 2024. She was also awarded the prestigious ABC travelling fellowship from the British Orthopaedic Association in 2024. Ciara is an active member of the European and International Knee Societies (ISAKOS, ESSKA and BASK) enabling her to provide current concept evidence based surgical techniques in her practice.
